The Portugal IFICI Tax Calculator is a free, independent tool that helps you estimate your benefit under the Incentivo Fiscal a Investigacao Cientifica e Inovacao (IFICI), the tax regime that replaced the old Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) scheme. It offers qualifying new residents in eligible high-value, scientific and innovation roles a reduced flat tax rate on Portuguese employment and self-employment income.

For qualifying professionals the flat rate can be far below the normal progressive scale, and the regime runs for a fixed number of years. This tool compares the IFICI flat rate against an indicative ordinary-tax figure so you can see the potential benefit.
